Wisium strengthens its global presence and invests in North Africa by opening its first production plant in Algeria and the 18th Wisium plant worldwide. This investment will expand the offer on the Algerian market and facilitate the exports to the Middle East and North African (MENA) countries. Wisium is willing to respond to the MENA region’s increasing demand by providing high quality premix products and tailor-made services for the animal nutrition players.
A new production plant coupled with a dedicated sales team in Algeria
The new plant is located in Oran, Algeria and has a surface area of 4,000 m² including a storage area of 2,000 m² for raw materials and finished products. The factory holds 6 silos designed for Wisium macro ingredients such as wheat bran, salt, carbonate. It also counts 16 micro dosing silos for the micro ingredients as vitamins, minerals, and a double helix mixer of 500kg. The production of premix in Algeria has started in June 2018.
The team in Algeria is composed of 17 employees, under the direction of Maamar Zerabib who has an experience of more than 10 years in animal health and nutrition. The team is operating with high-end technological industry methods to ensure high quality premix production.
Recognized for its R&D and zootechnical know-how, Wisium benefits from 60 years of expertise in animal nutrition and is aiming to develop solution to face better current and coming problematics of animal nutrition industry such as : demedication, optimizing cost of production, improve quality of final products thinking about the demand of the whole chain sector.
Jeil Feed, the major South Korean animal feed manufacturer with 7 plants in Korea and 2 in China, produces 1.4 million tons of feed per year with a turnover of USD 560 million. Established in 1962, the company, belongs to the Harim Group, the South Korean leading industrial player operating in poultry production.
Algeria: A high-potential market for animal nutrition
In Africa, Algeria is one of the largest and most developing markets in animal health and nutrition. The poultry market has increased by 10% in layers and by 11% in broilers within two years. According to Maamar Zerabib: “The production of complete feed in Algeria is estimated at 4 million tons and the Algerian feed production is worth 1.3 billion euros in 2018. These market trends stand as a very favourable background for the acceleration of Wisium’s business in the region”.
